A star is Shaun… but viewers insist on ‘Barry’
CELEBRITY Big Brother fans shared their mock dismay when ‘Barry from EastEnders’ was referred to as Shaun Williamson.
The ex-soap star, 51, was introduced by his real name during Tuesday’s live launch.
But one viewer tweeted: ‘Why do they keep calling Barry from EastEnders “Shaun”?’
Another quipped: ‘What’s this Shaun name badge all about? First name: Barry. Surname: From EastEnders.’
Williamson played put-upon Barry from 1994 to 2004. In 2005, guesting in the Ricky Gervais comedy Extras, he was routinely referred to as Barry.
On CBB, he was put to the test straight away, instructed to act nervously for a secret task.
The show continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
