Allsopp: I’d put my kids in the hold if I could!

KIRSTIE ALLSOPP has deepened the row sparked over her comments about leaving her kids unsupervised on planes — by saying she’d ‘put them in the hold if I could’.
The, hopefully, tongue in cheek comments from the Location, Location, Location presenter came after she revealed to The Sun earlier this month that she sometimes treated herself to seats in business class while leaving her kids to fend for themselves in economy.
Kirstie defended the actions of herself and hubby Ben Andersen, saying posh seats for her boys — aged 10 and 12 — would be ‘an absurd waste of money and very spoiling’, but that she doesn’t always do it and obviously didn’t when they were younger.
But not everyone was impressed, with one former airline employee saying they ‘hated it’ when parents abandoned their kids to economy class while they ‘quaffed champagne in Club’.
Now, an unrepentant Kirstie has compounded her comments by saying her kids actually prefer not to sit with her.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she explained: ‘If I’m in economy, I’m with the kids, obviously, because there’s nothing further back — I’d put them in the hold if I could!
‘They love being by themselves because I’m a bit of a tough mum. I won’t let them drink sugary drinks or watch 15 movies.’
And Kirstie certainly isn’t planning to change her ways, saying of her boys: ‘They think that being on a plane is all about doing the things that I don’t let them do, so when this whole thing kicked off they were like, “Mum, but last time we were on a plane we watched Baywatch and you’d never have allowed that.
“‘You’re not gonna sit with us, are you?’”And I was like, “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna sit with you.”‘
