Can Amir woman be PM, asks Khan?

I’M A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here viewers branded boxer Amir Khan ‘sexist’ and ‘extremely dim’ yesterday, after he revealed a shocking ignorance of current affairs.
It was when Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley was voted to be the prime minister of the camp that Amir piped up with the question that had some fuming with rage while others posted hilarious put-downs.
Speaking to Stanley, Amir said: ‘If something, God forbid, happened to you, is it possible that a woman could take over?’
To which Stanley patiently replied: ‘Well, a woman would take over because [Made In Chelsea’s] Toff is my deputy.’
But then Amir asked: ‘Has there ever been a prime minister?’
To be fair, he quickly remembered Margaret Thatcher — but not current leader Theresa May.

Twitter had a field day. One angry viewer wrote: ‘Is Amir Khan serious? What idiot would legitimately think that in this day and age a woman couldn’t be prime minister?’
Another incensed tweeter commented that ‘a shameless lack of education is nothing to be proud of’.
And a third listed what they believe to be his many faults: ‘I genuinely don’t understand the rallying of Amir Khan. I find he lacks intelligence, he’s mildly sexist, naive, simple-minded, ignorant and just extremely dim. And no, I don’t find any of those attributes endearing.’
But others joked that Amir’s comments showed he is in fact an ‘avid politics fan’.
‘I didn’t recognise Theresa May as a PM either, it’s ok,’ wrote one, while another began to wonder if Amir was losing his grip on reality.
‘I think Amir thinks Stanley is the actual real prime minister now!!’ they wrote.
And they have a point as he certainly doesn’t seem to understand the concept of being on a reality TV show.
Embarrassed at his PM gaffe, he said: ‘Don’t tell anyone that.’ Erm… hate to tell you this, Amir, but the cameras are rolling.
