Being in the Game made Gwendoline Christie grow up about life

GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE says her starring role in Game of Thrones helped her overcome her ‘androgynous’ body issues.
The 6ft 3in tall actress packed on the muscle to play Brienne of Tarth in the HBO fantasy series — and admits it was liberating.
The 38-year-old said: ‘I remember when I had my hair cut off and put armour on, I completely changed the way I looked. I knew I had to overcome the things I was uncomfortable with, like my androgyny, my height, my physical strength, feeling like an outsider.’
Growing up, she failed to see why women’s roles had to be ‘boring’, she told Newsweek International.
‘I didn’t understand why women had to be submissive. I didn’t understand the relationship between virgin or whore, mother or sex object,’ she said.
