Ben Fogle ‘used sister-in-law’s breastmilk’ in eye cure bid
ADVENTURER Ben Fogle has revealed he has been trying out an unusual cure for his eye infection — his sister-in-law’s breastmilk.
Fogle, 43, said that his wife Marina put her sister Olivia Hunt’s milk into his eye using a pipette.
‘Oh, my God. My wife has just put her sister’s fresh breastmilk in my eye to cure an infection,’ he told the Daily Mail.
‘I know it sounds disgusting, but I had three lots of it yesterday.
‘My wife administered it through a pipette straight into my eyeball. My sister-in-law said the antibodies in the milk will do my eye good. I don’t know whether to believe it, but I thought I would try it anyway.’
The father-of-two added: ‘When I could see it running in my eye I thought to myself, “This is a bit weird”.’
Hunt was linked to Prince William during his first year at St Andrews University.
Some parents have used a small amount of breastmilk to treat minor eye problems in their babies’ eyes.
Fogle’s comments came after the broadcaster said he lets his children play with knives.
‘Children should be able to take risks,’ he said earlier this year.
‘My five and seven-year-old have got knives, whittling knives, they’ve got a sharp blade… to whittle wood. They’ve had those for years now.
‘We make fire. They do everything. We treat them like grown-ups.
‘One of the reasons that we are all so obsessed with fire is that when we are children we’re told to “stay clear of fire, don’t take that match, fire is dangerous”.’
