Calum Scott’s got a rugby hunk date

CALUM SCOTT is ready to take long-distance romance to extremes — as he hopes to score a try in a love match with an Aussie rugby hunk.
Despite selling out venues in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and America, the singer-songwriter admits fame can be ‘lonely’. But he has renewed confidence to go on the pull — after fans flocked to like his 30th birthday snap, where he showed off his gym bod by the pool… while wearing a pair of red high-heel shoes.
‘I am single and looking for love,’ the Dancing On My Own singer told Guilty Pleasures. ‘This career can be lonely. When you find yourself in hotel rooms, restaurants or on a flight, there are definitely times I would love to be able to share these experiences with a significant other.’
He almost found a plus-one on Tinder last year but fame killed the blossoming romance as: ‘I couldn’t give him the time and attention he wanted from me.’
Now, as he flies to Oz, Calum revealed: ‘I have a little date in Australia coming up, which is very exciting.
‘I do like a rugby lad. That is one of my sweet spots. It’s got to come down to personality — especially travelling all over the world. They’ve got to be someone I connect with.
‘I am looking for someone normal, down to earth, grounded. They have got to be able to laugh. Life’s too short to be serious all the time.
‘Jesus, you listen to my music and if I was that serious as a personality as well… Christ,’ he quipped.
The Hull lad added: ‘I have blossomed so much, to a point where the other day I posted a picture of me in a pair of bloody heels!
‘I don’t know where my confidence is coming from. I am stepping into a new chapter in my life where I am revealing more about my personality and my sexuality,’ he said.
‘I am not one of those people that necessarily post super confident pictures, I just felt so secure,’ said Calum, who admits he was a ‘bit drunk’ when he uploaded it online.
After learning 78,000 fans had ‘liked’ the snap, he added: ‘I have been working hard at the gym. It was a big deal for me posting that. Again it is reflective of where I am at with my confidence right now.
‘It has been my most liked picture on Instagram of all time! It blew up my social media,’ he said. ‘I felt vulnerable posting it but to see how it was received … I got the same emotions I get as when I release new music.’
And it didn’t dent his dating chances either, as he admitted on social media: ‘I get sent my fair share of images! It’s very flattering.’
For now, Calum hopes new track No Matter What ‘can be medicine’ for fans who relate to his journey. It will also feature on a special edition of album Only Human, out on November 30.
