EastEnders star Davood Ghadami waltzes onto Strictly Come Dancing line-up
EASTENDERS star Davood Ghadami will swap the soap for the samba when he takes to the dancefloor in Strictly Come Dancing.
The actor, 35, is the second star to be named in the line-up for the dancing competition, joining The Saturdays singer Mollie King.
Ghadami has played heartthrob Kush Kazemi in the soap since 2014 and won a TV Choice Award for best newcomer.
He said: ‘Having the opportunity to take part in this year’s Strictly is such an honour.
‘It’s going to be exciting, challenging and terrifying all at once and I am so looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone and learning to dance. See you under the glitterball!’
Other EastEnders stars who have taken to the Strictly dancefloor in past years include Jake Wood, Kellie Bright and Tameka Empson.
In 2010 the soap’s Kara Tointon lifted the glitterball trophy as the series champion.
Ghadami has previously starred as Jim in the Doctor Who story Let’s Kill Hitler, and has also appeared in The Bill, The Omid Djalili Show, Taggart, Silent Witness, Life’s Too Short, Law & Order, Top Boy and Skins Redux.
King was the contestant to be announced for the new series of the show.
She said: ‘It’s something that I always said I wanted to do. I’ve always watched it with my family and it looks so fun.
“I’m going to be giving it my all. I’m very competitive so watch out, other contestants.’
King revealed that she had previously shared the news with band-mate Frankie Bridge, who took part in the BBC dance contest in 2014.
Other celebrity contestants for the new series will be announced in due course.
