Ed Sheeran responds to ‘backing track’ barbs

GLASTONBURY headliner Ed Sheeran has hit back at people who accused him of using backing tracks during his set.
The Galway Girl singer brought the Somerset festival to a close last night, despite being a somewhat controversial choice.
And while his fans took to Twitter saying he was ‘the best’, ‘unreal’ and ‘an absolute genius’, others were less than impressed.
One posted: ‘Hey Ed Sheeran, using a backing track when you’re headlining kind of feels like cheating.’
Another tweeted: ‘There’s a pub singer on telly strumming his guitar and singing to some backing tracks. No, wait, it’s Ed Sheeran.’
A third wrote: ‘Truth be told, guitar plays by itself, ghost backing singers, backing tracks. Ed Sheeran has bombed.’

But Ed, who took to the stage alone, responded this morning, tweeting: ‘Never thought I’d have to explain it, but everything I do in my live show is live, it’s a loop station, not a backing track. Please google x’
Perhaps realising he sounded a little defensive, the red-headed crooner then added: ‘Anyway, great night, great atmosphere, family, friends, fun. Love you all x’
Never mind, Ed, your diehard fans understand — as one tweeted yesterday: ‘The things Ed can do with just himself and a guitar is phenomenal.’
