Glenn Close joined by her dog at film awards

GLENN CLOSE had her thunder stolen by her dog before last night’s Oscars ceremony as he joined her on stage at the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
The actress picked up another gong to add to her impressive collection -for her portrayal of a disillusioned spouse in indie flick The Wife.
But she was upstaged by her white Havanese Pip, who was at her side when she stepped up to accept her leading female prize.
The audience, gathered in a tent on Santa Monica beach, broke into laughter when the pooch began rolling around on the ground as his owner praised her fellow nominees. A smiling Close, 71, said: ‘He’s my date.’

Hosting the event, actress Aubrey Plaza joked: ‘Pippy the dog just scored a three-picture deal at Amazon.’
Earlier, Close had walked down a blue carpet with Pip, who has his own Instagram page featuring pictures of him with the veteran star. According to the social media account, his full name is Sir Pippin Of Beanfield.
Meanwhile, Close — also honoured at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards — is hoping the acclaim for The Wife will help her to stay top dog in Hollywood. ‘I want to get some wonderful parts I hope and we have some exciting possibilities coming up,’ she said. ‘I’m going to start developing material again and producing, which I love, on stories that I’ve had in my mind for a long time.
‘I want to write as well. I want to write another script, so there’s so much that I’m looking forward to.’
having previously been honoured at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The acting legend won the leading female for her turn in the indie film.
