Great British Bake Off’s Ruby Bhogal ‘tricked into revealing winner’

GREAT British Bake Off favourite Ruby Bhogal has reportedly revealed the winner of this year’s show after being duped by a Twitter user.
The 29-year-old apparently gave the game away when she said she was ‘very happy’ with the winner in what she thought was a direct message to host Sandi Toksvig.
But hapless Ruby, who won Star Baker this week, had in fact been communicating with a 26-year-old male, according to The Sun.
The hoaxer said he did it because he was ‘bored’.
‘It’s actually pretty easy to do really,’ he added. ‘You just make a fake profile of one of their friends and then they follow you. You then change your name and message them and they have no clue.’
For the sake of GBBO viewers, The Sun did not reveal the name of the alleged winner, but it claims to have seen the name.

Last year, judge Prue Leith made her own pre-emptive winner announcement on Twitter, which she claimed left her feeling ‘suicidal’.
The 78-year-old said she accidentally let slip that Sophie Faldo had won the show because she was on holiday in Bhutan and forgot about the time difference.
‘It was very scary at the time and horrible,’ she told the Radio Times. ‘I had so many people saying, “You ruined my life, how could you?”’
Hopefully, Ruby won’t be made to feel so bad as she competes against fellow bakers Kim-Joy, Rahul Mandal, Briony Williams in the upcoming semi-final — Patisserie week — next Tuesday.
The Great British Bake Off final is likely to air on October 30
