Gwyneth Paltrow ‘so grateful’ to ex Brad Pitt for verbally ‘throwing Harvey Weinstein at the wall’

GWYNETH PALTROW has expressed her gratitude to ex Brad Pitt for threatening to ‘kill’ disgraced Harvey Weinstein when she told him the movie mogul had propositioned her.
Gwyneth was one of the first women to come out with allegations of sexual misconduct against the powerful producer, claiming that during the filming of 1996 film Emma he placed his hands on her at a hotel and suggested they go to a bedroom for massages.
Describing herself as a ‘no one’ at the time, Paltrow, who dated Pitt from 1994 to 1997, told Marie Claire magazine she believes Harvey was ‘scared’ of Brad and that if it hadn’t been for his intervention, she might have been sacked.
Speaking to the magazine in the wake of her marriage to new man Brad Falchuk at the weekend, she said: ‘He [Pitt] told me exactly what he said [to Harvey]. He said, “If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.”
‘It was great. It was the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, energetically.’
She added: ‘I am so grateful to Brad, because he leveraged his power and fame to protect me, when I was no one, and he scared Harvey.
‘And if it hadn’t been for him, I don’t know if I’d have gotten fired, or what.
‘But instead, Harvey was like, “OK, let’s put it behind us.”
‘I think he wanted to keep Brad on side.’
Brad’s heavy-handed tactic certainly seems to have worked as Gwyneth went on to work with Weinstein on several more movies, including 1999’s Shakespeare In Love.
But she said in a July New York Times interview that their professional relationship was always uneasy.

‘He could be truly horrible and mean and then be incredibly generous. It was kind of like a classic abusive relationship,’ she said.
‘The one time that Harvey propositioned me was really almost the least of it in terms of how onerous that relationship was. It was very quid pro quo and punitive, and I always felt like I was on thin ice.’
On a happier note, speaking about getting remarried — to Glee co-creator Falchuk, four years on from the faltering of her first marriage to Coldplay’s Chris Martin — Gwyneth said: ‘For a while, I thought, I don’t know if I’d ever do it again… And then I met this incredible man who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to.
‘I’m very much the marrying kind. I love being a wife. I love making a home.’
