How it feels to lose an Oscar

We’ve all seen and sympathised with stars getting caught on camera, forced to adopt a rictus ‘I’m-so-pleased-for-the-winner-no-really-I-am’ grin.
But what’s really going on inside their heads?
Viola, who is up for a best supporting Oscar and memorably missed out on a best actress Academy Award for The Help back in 2012, reveals all…
Speaking to US TV host Jimmy Kimmel, she admitted it’s ‘devastating’ when you’re tipped to win then don’t.
‘You’re sitting there and you’re like, “I’m the odds on favourite, OK” and then your name is not called, it’s like falling from a 100-storey building.
‘As opposed to if you know you’re losing, it’s like falling from a one-storey building.’
Viola will find out if she has won an Oscar this time round at next Sunday’s ceremony.
