JAY-Z: We did ‘hard work’ to save love

JAY-Z has confessed that he and wife Beyoncé went to couples’ therapy for years to deal with his cheating. The rapper expanded on the infidelity that inspired thinly veiled references on his wife’s Lemonade album.
Speaking to US TV host David Letterman, who has also admitted to cheating on his own missus in the past, the dad-of-three said: ‘Much like you, I have a beautiful wife who is understanding and knew that I’m not the worst of what I’ve done.’
Revealing how he and Crazy In Love singer Beyoncé, 36, battled to save their marriage, the rapper said: ‘We did the hard work of going to therapy, and really we love each other, so we really put in the work, and for years.’
The 48-year-old said his new music is another outlet for healing and self-reflection, adding: ‘This music that I’m making now is a result of things that happened already and, like you, I like to believe that we’re in a better place today but still working and communicating and growing. I’m proud of the father and the husband that I am today because of all the work that was done.’
The 4:44 maker also revealed during the chat his tension and rivalry with Kanye West is nothing more than brotherly love. ‘That’s my brother. We’re beyond friends. Like literally, my little brother is Kanye. And like your little brother, things happen sometimes. I have no problem [with him],’ he said.
‘That’s still your sibling forever; that’s my brother.’
