Nadia Sawalha: My curls are fake

NADIA SAWALHA is known for her thick, curly locks — but in an emotional video she has revealed they are ‘fake’.
The Loose Women presenter posted a short clip to Twitter last night, saying she had a ‘confession’ to make.
Standing in her bathroom, make-up free and with her hair wrapped in a turban, she said: ‘The thing people ask me the most about is my hair and how I have such “gorgeous”, “glorious”, “wonderful”, “amazing” natural curls.
‘And I’m going to be honest with you… they’re fake.’
Speaking in a longer Facebook clip, Nadia, 52, revealed she had ‘lost maybe a third of my hair’ — which had been her ‘crowning glory’ — after having kids and during the peri-menopause.
And she struggled to contain her tears as she described going to see a hair specialist who told her she has the ‘balding gene’.
Nadia also explained that the Loose Women make-up artists do all they can to make her hair look good, but that doesn’t stop her feeling ‘really sad’.
But Twitter users rallied round, with one describing her admission as ‘selfless bravery’.
And Nadia herself is fully aware that there are people much worse off than her, saying: ‘I feel bad even saying that when you think of people who have lost their hair completely through alopecia or cancer treatment.
‘But it doesn’t really make it any easier.’
