News flash! Janet Jackson ‘open’ to the idea of a JT reunion
JANET JACKSON could have TV chiefs on tenterhooks again following speculation that she will be reunited with Justin Timberlake at next year’s Super Bowl.
Their ‘Nipplegate’ appearance at the half-time show in 2004 caused uproar when Timberlake accidentally ripped open Janet’s top on live TV, exposing her right breast and coining the term ‘wardrobe malfunction’.
Anticipation that they might return intensified after NFL bosses insisted that Janet was not banned from performing at the world’s biggest sporting event.
Friends say she is ‘open’ to the idea of returning to the scene of the crime.
This week, when JT was announced as the half-time showstopper, Janet’s angry fans thought she was banned while Trousersnake was off the hook. But the NFL says ‘there’s no ban’ on JJ — back in fine form after returning to her world tour following the birth of her first child.
Close pals of the 51-year-old say she is tempted by the prospect of a reunion with Timberlake, 36.
One said: ‘Janet wanted to know she was not banned after what happened, and, knowing that there is no issue, is open to offers. But it will take Justin or his team to make an approach.
‘There is a feeling that her comeback would be a way of redeeming herself. Obviously, interest in the return would be off the chart. We mustn’t forget this is about ratings.’
As for Trousersnake, he has already promised there will be no flashing when he hits the Super Bowl stage in Minneapolis on February 4.
