Orlando Bloom is not a racist, says his mum

ORLANDO BLOOM’S mum has told his critics to pipe down after he was accused of being ‘racist’ in using the word ‘pikey’ to describe himself.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, 40, used the term on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show two weeks ago, and the BBC was forced to apologise afterwards.
But his mum Sonia Copeland Bloom said her son, from Kent, spoke ‘in a spirit of affection’. In a letter to the Kentish Gazette, she added: ‘I think anyone listening would have known it was said jokingly about the place where he was born and bred. Orlando, I feel sure, was referring to the fact he enjoys mixing with people from all walks of life.’
