Rock around the locks… Brad Simpson’s dogdy ’do inspires Vamps’ tunes

HAVING a bad hair day? Then spare a thought for The Vamps’ Brad Simpson, who says their new music was inspired by his dodgiest hairdo.
Brad, soon to embark on the band’s Night And Day tour, hasn’t always been, ahem, Head & Shoulders above the rest.
‘There are two brand-new songs that people will hear on this tour, which is mega-exciting,’ he exclusively told Guilty Pleasures.
‘One is about growing your hair to a length that doesn’t suit you. That happened in my life… that song is personal.’
The singer explained: ‘I went through a phase where I grew my hair a bit long. I cut my hair and people went, “It looks a lot better now!”’
When not worrying about his curly mop, Brad revealed he is busy fending off insults from his fans’ other halves.
‘I like it when dudes who have a sister or a girlfriend come up and straight away go, “Look mate, I don’t really like you to be honest but my girlfriend loves you, can I get a video?”’ he went on. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old won’t be boozing too hard when he hits the road, as he is still haunted by one particularly hellish, hangover-ridden show.
‘We played Brighton. We went out the night before and I genuinely thought I was going to throw up the entire gig,’ Brad recalled.
‘It was just awful and there was a lot of squeaking in the voice. So I promised myself not to do that again — it’s not what I want us going viral for!’
The Vamps — completed by Tristan Evans and James McVey, both 23, and 22-year-old Connor Ball — kick off their tour at Sheffield Arena on April 14. For tickets see livenation.co.uk.
