Sacha Baron Cohen gets kicked into touch by cautious OJ

SACHA BARON COHEN has targeted OJ Simpson — trying to get him to admit to killing his former wife.
The comedian adopted the guise of ‘millionaire Italian photographer’ Gio Monaldo to try to trick the former NFL American football star into a sensational confession.
OJ proved gullible enough to agree to an interview and photoshoot with the fictional Monaldo — but was equal to the attempts to trip him up.
When Baron Cohen said he had a wealthy business partner who would pay to hear the truth about ‘that night’ with ‘the wife’, OJ said: ‘What wife?’
Baron Cohen said ‘the one you shot’ but OJ hit back: ‘First of all, she wasn’t my wife. We had been divorced. Second of all, I didn’t do it.’
The comic tried again by bemoaning the damage to the star’s reputation, saying: ‘You kill two silly people and suddenly, you’re OJ the murderer.’ But Simpson did not react.
Baron Cohen — joined by an actress playing Monaldo’s girlfriend Christina — also joked he sometimes wanted to kill her, making a stabbing motion.
The film-maker, 46, kept the interview with OJ for the final episode — shown on Channel 4 last night — of his series Who Is America?
Previous episodes saw him set up a string of politicians including former vice-president Dick Cheney.
Simpson, 71, was cleared of the 1994 murders of ex-wife Nicole and her lover Ron Goldman. But he was found liable in a 1997 civil trial and told to pay the victims’ families £25million.
