Sheeran goes Ed to head with Stormzy for Mercury Prize
GRIME star Stormzy will battle it out with Ed Sheeran for this year’s Mercury Prize.
The music pals both make their debut on the shortlist which was released yesterday.
Nominated for album Gangs Signs & Prayers, Stormzy (pictured), 24, said on Twitter: ‘Over the moon right now. Giving God the Glory. I put my heart, my soul and my absolute everything into this album.’ Bookies make him a 4/1 favourite to win.
Sheeran, 26, received the nod for record-breaking album ÷. Also nominated for album of the year are The XX and Alt-J, Blossoms, and singer Sampha.
The awards show will take place at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, on September 14.
