Susanna Reid on the day Piers Morgan ‘reduced me to tears’

SUSANNA REID has revealed she used to come off air in tears when Piers Morgan first joined her as co-host of ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
The 47-year-old cracked over outspoken Morgan’s criticism of the Women’s March — when he insisted there should be a men’s march.
Recalling the row, she explained: ‘He said there should be a men’s march and got a bee in his bonnet about radical feminists wanting to cut men off at the knees and create a world without men, and I felt kind of responsible for what he thought.’
Life on the sofa with the ex-Britain’s Got Talent judge is a ‘constant battle for airtime’, she told the Radio Times. ‘Sometimes I open my mouth to ask a question and hear Piers’s voice come out — so you can’t help but go into battle with him every morning.
‘I know it’s not personal, but there was a time when I took this a lot more seriously, and personally, than I do now.’ Having devised a strategy to put up with the 53-year-old’s rants, Reid said: ‘I just realised, that’s not my responsibility. He can say anything he likes. Someone said to me recently, “Piers goes around setting fires, you put them out.” But on days when I can’t put the fire out, that’s fine. That’s when I made my peace with it.’
