That’s not the party lines! Helen Mirren’s blunder at L’Oréal

DAME HELEN MIRREN may need to smooth out relations with her L’Oréal bosses — after admitting the moisturiser she advertises to keep lines at bay ‘probably does f*** all’.
Things turned ugly while the actress was taking part in a promotion for the beauty giant in the South of France.
‘I’m an eternal optimist. I know that when I put my moisturiser on it probably does f*** all,’ Dame Helen confessed. ‘But it just makes me feel better.’
The Oscar-winning star of The Queen continued: ‘I’m not setting standards for others. All I can do is be who I am. I’ve always loved make-up.’
Her foot-in-mouth moment has been compared with an infamous comment made by former jewellery giant Gerald Ratner in 1992.
His company went into decline after he described its stock as ‘total crap’.
At 72, Dame Helen is the oldest of L’Oréal’s celebrity ambassadors and has previously insisted her adverts are never digitally retouched to erase wrinkles.
