When Simon Cowell met David Walliams…

SIMON COWELL has revealed what happened the first time he met David Walliams to convince him to get on board with Britain’s Got Talent — and it wasn’t all good.
The pair constantly wind each other up, both on and off screen, in the way that close friends often do, but things weren’t always so rosy between them.
Cowell said his first chat with the former Little Britain actor to pitch BGT to him couldn’t have gone worse.
Speaking on Lorraine about the meeting today, the X Factor head honcho said: ‘I pitched him the show.
‘We had one of the worst meetings I’ve ever had.
‘When I say it was bad, it was bad. And I thought, “this is never going to happen”.
‘Then a year later we had another conversation and he agreed to it. To be fair, he and the show are a perfect match.’
He added that he loves working with Walliams and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon because ‘they’re absolutely focused on the talent…but they’re hard work’.
For the first time the live shows, set to take place at Hammersmith Apollo, will just be hosted by Declan Donnelly as Ant McPartlin seeks treatment following his drink driving charge.
However, he will still appear in the pre-recorded audition stages, with one act reducing him to tears.
